Today was a scheduled complete rest day for me. It’s a sign of how addicted I’ve become to exercising that rest days are the toughest days on my schedule — I feel so sloth-like when I don’t exercise! And when I eat a lot, I feel more guilty if I don’t have the redeeming power of exercise.
However, I just tell myself that I need the rest days to recover, and my body is always refreshed after a rest day, ready for another week of great workouts.

i noticed you stop putting the weight element in your updates.
any reason why?
just an observation. inspiring blog by the way.

I totally agree about the rest day. But it’s great how fresh you feel when you start up!
I’m also jealous of your weather and views. Today was a beautiful 60-something, but yesterday was rainy in the 50s and rainy in the 40s the day before that. I do have beaches nearby, but I’d have to drive about 30 min or so to get to them. So I usually stick with my neighborhood for running.
I mentioned your blog in my blog post this week. Keep up the good work Leo. http://suesbent.wordpress.com/2008/05/05/just-do-it/
Thanks guys!
@antonio: Good observation! I think I haven’t been putting the weight is because I’ve plateaued with the weight (I’ve been pretty steady around 185) but I feel like I’m making progress with every other objective and subjective standard. The weight doesn’t reflect that progress.
For example, over the last few weeks, I’ve really increased my exercise duration and intensity. I feel fitter than ever, and my waist is slimmer than ever (measured it at 36 in this morning, was at 38 a few weeks ago). I’ve been eating as healthy as ever, sometimes better than ever. My endurance in the swim and bike have improved. I am stronger in my weight lifting sessions.
But despite all the progress based on these other standards, the weight is the same. So I’m trying not to think about the weight too much. :)
Ahh,
Ok. I guess there is that point where the weight isn’t a factor anymore. I can see why it’s not in there anymore.
Keep it up. I’m also working on my fitness, but my weight is a factor. I’m striving for 175lbs as my target weight (225lbs now)
