Today was a cheat day for me, although I didn’t go overboard or anything. I nearly made up for the extra calories with my running — two short runs (morning and evening) that totaled about 7 miles, the longest I’ve run since the marathon. I even did two of those miles at tempo pace just to feel out my fitness level. My legs feel good so I’m happy about my recovery so far.
Cheat day meant that I had blueberry pancakes for breakfast, some movie popcorn when I took my kids out to the movies today, and pizza for dinner. I really enjoyed the blueberry pancakes but the pizza and popcorn didn’t seem worth the extra calories. Maybe my taste buds are changing!

Hey Leo – just curious if you are going to throw any swimming and biking into the training mix…?
As a runner for 20 years I recently had to stop completely because of major knee issues, so I started swimming a couple of weeks ago and I have a bike on the way.

@Mark: Coincidentally, I just decided yesterday to start swimming and biking once a week or so, because I hope to do a couple of sprint triathlons pretty soon. I’ll write a little more about this soon. Good luck Mark!
