So I went to a social gathering today, very hungry because I was too in a hurry to eat a snack before we left, and … didn’t overeat! Of course, most of the food available was non-vegetarian (seafood, meat, etc), so I had limited choices, but still! There were sweets and I didn’t eat any of them! There was wine and I only had a small glass! I ate slowly and enjoyed raw veggies mostly.
If you’re asking yourself why I’m so happy, it’s because eating out or going to social gatherings is my weak point for eating healthy. I tend to indulge and overeat until I stuff myself. That’s not so bad from time to time, but if I do it several times a week then I’m not losing weight. So I’m proud of myself!
Today was ALL snacks — from a protein shake and a small piece of banana for breakfast, to snacks all day long, to a small bowl of soup for lunch, to veggies and other snacks for dinner. Not on purpose, but it’s just how my eating went today. Still getting hungry frequently, but small snacks seem to satisfy me, so that’s good.
Today’s report:
WO: Light strength training today. Same as on Tues, with only 1 set of 7 exercises, but I did a couple more reps on each exercise. Also did about 30 pushups later. 50.

D: Cut-up raw veggies. Corn tortilla. Banana. Glass of wine. 290 total.
Totals:
Ate: 1700
Burned: 1900BMR + 50exercise = 1950
Deficit: 250.
Sadly enough I am sitting here in London being all maternal and wondering if you are eating enough – am coming back every day just to check when you hit the energy wall!
Isn’t your average man supposed to take in about 2,500 calories? And then if you are running a whole lot on top of that, then surely around 1,700 is a pretty serious calorie deficit.
Anyway, loving your blog – it’s inspiring me in my own little healthy lifestyle mission … and I know what you mean about social occasions – canapes are the devil’s food!
@Jacqui: Thank you, for that concern. I do appreciate it, and it’s a good question that I’ll have to ask myself every day. Actually, thinking about it, I am going to do a short post on it right now! Go and read it for my answer, and thank you again!
Congrats on your social gathering success. I have the same weak spot in terms of overeating at social events. What was the difference this time that made the difference for you?
Thanks KAG! What was the difference? Great question. I thought about it beforehand, first of all, and was determined just to eat small, healthy snacks instead of gorging on sweets and the like. But also there wasn’t a lot I could eat. :)
Also, I thought about having to log a bunch of sweets, and having to report back to all of you that I overate. So you all helped me!
